FBOA Hospitality Meet-Up Recap

Fiscalization Updates, Employee Costs, and Operational Challenges in 2026

Last week, FBOA Split Dalmatia hosted another session of the Hospitality Group meet-up, bringing together business owners, operators, and professionals from the hospitality sector to discuss current changes affecting daily operations in Croatia.

The conversation focused on fiscalization updates, employee cost structures, and practical challenges that businesses are facing in 2026, along with a short discussion on technology, marketing tools, and possible collaboration opportunities.

Below is a summary of the main topics discussed.

Fiscalization 2.0 – What to Expect

One of the main points of the meeting was the upcoming fiscalization framework, often referred to as Fiscalization 2.0 (B2C).

Participants discussed the expected impact on hospitality businesses, particularly in relation to reporting requirements, compliance procedures, and the need to adapt internal processes to new digital systems.

While the exact implementation details are still being clarified, it is clear that the changes will require careful preparation, especially for companies handling high transaction volumes.

Salary Updates and Employee Cost Structure

Another important topic was the current salary framework and the increasing cost of employment.

The minimum salary is now around €1,050 gross, which corresponds to approximately €800 net, while the required salary for company directors has increased to €1,275.45.

Several non-taxable allowances were also reviewed, including gift allowances, work-from-home compensation, and mileage reimbursement for private vehicle use. These benefits can play an important role in structuring employee compensation in a more flexible and efficient way.

Hospitality-Specific Benefits

For hospitality businesses in particular, the group discussed additional benefits commonly used in the sector, such as holiday allowances, health insurance supplements, and meal-related compensation.

These elements can significantly affect total employee cost and require careful planning, especially for companies preparing for the upcoming season.

Participants also noted that some rules still require clarification, particularly regarding meal expenses and how they can be applied in practice.

Additional Bonuses and Non-Taxable Payments

The discussion also covered other forms of employee benefits, including seasonal bonuses, performance incentives, and gifts for children.

These types of payments are often used to support staff retention, but they must be structured correctly to remain within non-taxable limits.

Given the current labor market conditions, many businesses are reviewing their compensation models to remain competitive while maintaining financial stability.

Operational Concerns and Seasonal Outlook

Members shared concerns about the upcoming season, especially in relation to staffing, cost control, and overall business predictability.

There was also a discussion about intergroup support strategies, with some participants exploring ways to share resources or cooperate between companies during peak periods.

As always, the hospitality sector continues to face a balance between rising costs and the need to maintain quality service.

Technology, Marketing, and Automation

The second part of the meeting moved toward operational tools and digital solutions.

Participants mentioned platforms such as Indeed for recruitment, HighLevel for marketing automation, and Make.com for workflow automation.

There was also interest in improving marketing websites, implementing more automated systems, and exploring the use of AI in everyday business processes.
