The Croatian (S)LANGuage – FBOA September Meeting

Language is often the bridge—or the barrier—that defines how we connect, build relationships, and grow businesses in a new country. For many foreign entrepreneurs and residents in Croatia, navigating the Croatian language can feel like learning to swim in deep waters: challenging, confusing at times, but ultimately rewarding.

At our September FBOA meeting, we’ll dive into The Croatian (S)language, a conversation about not just the words we speak, but the culture and mindset that shapes them.

Meet the Speaker: Anja

Anja is a Croatian tutor from Split with over a decade of experience. She discovered her love for teaching in 2013, but it wasn’t until 2021 that she stepped out on her own to teach independently. Since then, she has focused intensively on helping foreigners learn Croatian in a way that feels practical, personal, and encouraging.

Her students know her for her patience, humor, and ability to make the language less intimidating—whether it’s preparing for business meetings, handling everyday errands, or simply enjoying a conversation at the beach. Beyond teaching, Anja is a beach lover and animal shelter volunteer, which perfectly reflects her warm and approachable nature.
